we rinse practically wash before we put in dishwasher so no big food particles. There's residue and micro particles of all kinds of things. I cleaned per video, then i sucked out the water with the wet vac. I connected the wet vac hose to the water hose coming from the dishwasher, wrapped a towel and hit the go button. It sucked whatever was clogging up the line. Great fix. So easy I did it. My husband has himself fixer wife. Also, i am ordering the maintenance product by Bosch to keep clean from Amazon.
This is a good strategy for bad clogs. But before you go to this much trouble, check the air gap first: take the cap off of the air vent on the counter top, then remove the inner cap to see the hose that leads from the dishwasher pump to your drain. Many times you'll find the debris causing the clog right there. You can remove the clogging debris, replace both caps and restart your dishwasher cycle. You don't need any tools other than maybe a butter knife or screwdriver to help remove the inner cap. Takes 5 minutes or less.
Really smart thinking to shopvac from the sink side. Worked like a charm. In my case, the clog was right where the drain hose attaches. What makes this technique so good is that if it works, you know for sure that the path is clear from the bottom of the dishwasher to the sink. Thanks a bunch!!!
Thanks so much for posting this! We followed your instructions and unplugged the drain hose ourselves. This is great info to have and will save us money in service calls should this happen again.
Thanks so much. We tried this at 11:30pm in new year’s Eve in Sydney, Australia. It was fixed right at 12:00am! It is such a great way to start 2021! Only God knows how many dishes we go through each day due to work-from -home / stay-at-home. Happy New Years every one!
This fixed my issue! You're so awesome for putting this out there. I suspect you have saved people lots of cash and time. Many thanks to you :-)
Hey again, TexasNova. I've tried your method twice now, due to some repeated clogs, and it worked beautifully. My dishwasher drain hose fits very tightly in my shop vac hose, so it has great seal and suction.
Used this method to evacuate the drain water and in the process it occurred to me the air gap is possibly the root cause. I noticed later that someone else had also reached this conclusion. Thanks for sharing - very helpful. And for anyone else embarking on this repair I’d recommend buying a new Air Gap from your local hardware store; it’s about $10.
This fixed my issue! Thank you for the solution to my problem. Sucks that Bosch has this issue, but such is life and people like this dude make life worth living peace and blessings.
Thanks for this video! Saved me from calling a repair service. Tried cleaning the filter and the trap and the impeller with no results. This fixed it right up! Much appreciated!
When you dig a little deeper in the drain there's a little propeller that sometimes gets stuck if something gets through the filter. Always remove all solids from the dishes you put in. Lemon seeds etc. (The usual suspect in my case)
Thanx Tex, you just saved me at least $200 in repair man services. I bought a wet/dry for $50 and it did the job in less than a minute. Great tip mate.
One thing to also consider is the possibility of something stuck in the garbage disposal where the drain line attaches. Took 2 days and lots of curse words to figure this one out. Thanks for the video cause it definitely helped me troubleshoot.
This did the trick for us. Never really saw the food that was clogging it, but just happy that it's working again. Many thanks!
Thank you very much for this! I think it solved my problem, which is especially awesome considering it would probably have been impossible to get anyone to diagnose it during the pandemic lockdown. Cheers!
Worked great thanks. I fought with this issue in the past and this was the easiest solution I've found.
If anyone wants to try a simpler fix in case your problem is simpler. Had this problem reappear for a few weeks now: First I tried my best to clean the inside of the machine, but I am sure you have already done that by this time. Nothing got better after running a reset/program. Still go the error. I then shook the outlet hose semi-violently against the floor/wall in order to shake anything loose that might be stuck. Don't pull the hose or put any strain at the ends, just send some shock waves through it while it's dry to shake anything loose. I then let the machine do a rinse program and then the water was gone in the machine. Good luck.
I’ve had this problem on and off since we got our dishwasher. It’s been getting to be a real pain. Always cleared it from the impeller side. This is a much better solution. Thanks so much for posting this!
TexasNova, thank you so much for this helpful video!
Great video, thanks! Had my dishwasher working again in only a few minutes.
